A Message From The Assistant Director
Thank you for your interest in Madison Adult Career Center's programs! You will find financial assistance information below. Please note that assistance may vary by program as we are a postsecondary clock-hour school and follow federal guidelines for clock-hour programs. If you will click below on the printable financial aid information brochure, it will guide you through the application process. I look forward to working with you and hope to see you in class soon! If you have questions, please contact me at the following email address Lisa Miracle or call 419-589-6363 with any questions

FINANCIAL AID STEPS

1. Gather the following documentation:
  • HIGH SCHOOL DIPLOMA (or transcript) or GED CERTIFICATE/SCORES - If you cannot locate your diploma, contract your high school and ask that a transcript be sent (to you or to Madison Adult Career Center).

  • 2011 FEDERAL INCOME TAX FORM (If married, bring spouse’s return also)

  • PLEASE, if you are eligible transfer your tax information from the IRS website to your FAFSA using the Data Retrieval Tool!!! There are some circumstances in which you will not be able to do so, but if you are eligible to transfer and choose not to; your financial aid can be delayed while you MUST request and wait for a tax transcript to arrive at the school from the IRS. We suggest if you do not transfer your data from the IRS to the FAFSA that you go ahead and request a transcript now! Tax Transcript Request

  • 2011 W-2’s (If married, also bring spouse’s W-2)

  • 2011 SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS RECEIVED (including Social Security Disability Benefits). Please request a benefit history for the year 2011 from the local social security office if you do not already have one.

  • CHILD SUPPORT PAID or RECEIVED IN THE YEAR 2011. You can get this information from the Child Support Enforcement Agency Office (Richland Co. 419.774.5700).

  • WORKER’S COMPENSATION ANY OTHER UNTAXED INCOME RECEIVED IN 2011

2. Apply on-line at www.fafsa.ed.gov or call to schedule an appointment for FAFSA assistance (bring your documentation above & PIN# if you already have one).

  • MADISON’S SCHOOL CODE IS 030237

  • Sign FAFSA with your PIN (a 4 digit number which allows you to electronically sign your FAFSA), if you don’t have one you will apply for a PIN at the end of the FAFSA application. If parent(s) income information is required on the FAFSA, a parent will also need to sign the FAFSA with a separate PIN.

FINANCIAL AID SOURCES

The following forms of financial aid are available to those who qualify:

Pell Grant – This federal grant is available for approved adult education programs which are 600 hours in length or longer. This grant does not need to be repaid unless a student withdraws from a program.

*Note – Students who are currently in default on a federal student loan are not eligible for a Title IV aid (Pell Grant, Stafford Loans) until their account is in good standing.

Workforce Investment Act Funding (WIA) – Each county has it’s own WIA training funds. Students should start the application process EARLY as the WIA funding process takes time. To find out more about WIA, contact your county’s Department of Job & Family Services:

Ashland County (419) 282-5000
Crawford County (419) 562-8066
Huron County (800) 668-5175
Morrow County (419) 946-8480
Richland County (419) 774-5300

***It is best to visit your local office in person to begin the process. Ask if you can start on the intake requirements (resume, job search, workshops, etc.) even if there is no funding currently available and if you can be considered for future sections/modules of your training program. You will need to be persistent in following up with the office in order to secure funding. (FAFSA REQUIRED).

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) – A state grant available for a company closing/downsizing, if employees were approved for TRA. An application must be submitted for approval about two months before training begins. (FASFA REQUIRED)

VA Veterans' Training Benefits – Veterans may use their VA benefits (Motgomery GI Bill, etc.), if approved, to attend programs at Madison Adult Career Center.

BUREAU OF VOCATIONAL REHABILITION (BVR) – If you have a documented disability and are pursuing eligible training funding may be possible. Phone: 419-747-3000. (FASFA REQUIRED)

Student Payment PlanFor programs 375 hours or longer. Payment must be made in full by program completion. Students are required to sign a payment contract and make the first payment before class begins. Payments are interest-free, but late fees are charged for delinquent payments. Payments more than 30 days delinquent will be forwarded to our collection agency and the student dismissed.

Stafford Student Loans – Can be applied for tuition and fees for approved programs 375 hours or longer. Students must complete a Master Promissory Note (MPN) and entrance/exit counseling. Student loans need to be repaid after the student graduates/withdraws from a program. (FASFA REQUIRED)

Delinquent Payment Policy – Delinquent payments are charged a late fee. Once payment is over 30 days delinquent, a letter will be sent notifying the student of the date the account will be sent to collections. If payment is not received by collection deadline, the account will be submitted to collections. The student will be dismissed and billed any additional charges that may occur due to financial aid that could not be collected by dismissal date.
